NAWSU Holds First IFSW Planning Meeting with Ministry

The National Association of Social Workers of Uganda (NASWU) held the first IFSW 2019 Africa Region conference planning meeting with Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD). The Conference will be held from 29th to 31st October 2019 under the theme “Social Work in Strengthening Human Relations for Social Economic and Political Transformation”

The meeting held on February 04, 2019 and chaired by Mr. Kyateka F. Mondo, Commissioner, Children and Youth at the Ministry was aimed at providing updates about the conference and seeking support of the ministry to take lead in organising the conference.

The commissioner noted that the ministry was fully committed to taking leadership of organising the conference. He further said the ministry will chair the National Organising Committee (NOC) which will have diverse representations from various ministry departments and Civil Society Organisations. He suggested the need to identify high profile thematic speakers who will give speeches. The meeting agreed on having Speke Resort Munyonyo as the Venue of the meeting

He concluded by committing to brief the Permanent Secretary about the conference.

The Next Meeting will be held on Monday 11th February 2018 at the MoGLSD Board Room to discuss and approve all necessary documents. The meeting will also determine when the NOC meetings start and their frequency.
